Epidemiological trends and age-specific changes in the incidence and mortality of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Gansu Province,2010-2021

Abstract
Objective To analyze the temporal patterns and age-related characteristics of the incidence and mortality of non-Hodgkin lymphoma(NHL)in Gansu Province from 2010 to 2021.Methods Data were obtained from the Gansu Provincial Cancer Registry for 2010-2021.Age-standardized incidence(ASIRC)and mortality(ASMRC)rates by Chinese standard population,age-specific inci-dence and mortality rates,and standardized mean age at incidence and mortality were calculated.Joinpoint regression analysis was applied to estimate the average annual percentage change(AAPC)for quantifying temporal trends.Linear regression models were utilized to evaluate the temporal trend in mean age.Descriptive analyses stratified by birth cohort and age-specific composition were conducted to describe the variations across age groups.Results From 2010 to 2021,the ASIRC of NHL in Gansu Province showed a significant downward trend(AAPC=-5.49%,P<0.05).The ASMRC also declined,with a larger magnitude of reduction(AAPC=-15.71%,P<0.05).Overall,NHL incidence and mortality were consistently higher among males than females,and higher in urban areas than in rural areas.Analysis of age distribution demonstrated that the incidence rate first rises then falls with advancing age,reaching a peak in the 70-79 age group,whereas the mortality rate keeps rising continuously with age.Both the mean age at incidence and the mean age at mortality show an overall upward trend.Conclusions From 2010 to 2021,the overall incidence and mortality rates of NHL in Gansu Province declined generally,and both suggested a trend of shifting toward older populations.Strengthening early detection and standardized management in this population,along with further improvement of cancer registration and surveillance systems,provides evidence for regional cancer prevention and control.关键词
