Abstract

To investigate the monitoring efficacy of color-trapping pest forecast instruments on the population dy-namics of tea green leafhoppers(Empoasca onukii Matsuda)and the field control efficacy of 50 g/L afidopyropen DC against them,a chromotropic pest monitoring instrument was used in 2024 to real-time monitor the population dynamics of tea green leafhoppers in the field.On this basis,two field efficacy trials were conducted during the peak occurrence period of tea green leafhoppers in Shihe District and Luoshan County of Xinyang City.The results show that the chromotropic pest monitoring instrument could accurately reflect the population dynamics of leafhop-pers in the field.When applied at 450 or 600 mL/hm2,50 g/L afidopyropen DC provided control efficacy against tea green leafhoppers of over 90.00%at 1 and 3 days after treatment(DAT),above 85.00%at 7 DAT,and still over 80.00%at 14 DAT.Its quick-acting and long-lasting control effects were superior to those of 240 g/L chlorfenapyr SC and 100 g/L bifenthrin EC,while showing no significant difference with 11.8%emamectin benzoate·tolfen-pyrad SC.Therefore,50 g/L afidopyropen DC can be used as a preferred pesticide for the control of tea green leaf-hoppers,and should be applied in rotation with other pesticides to delay the development of insecticide resistance in tea green leafhoppers.
