The Effect of Huatan Sanjie Formula Combined with Indirect Moxibustion on Hormone Levels in Patients of Cystic Hyperplasia of Breast with Liver Depression and Phlegm Coagulation Pattern

Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of Huatan Sanjie Formula combined with indirect moxibustion on hormone levels in patients of cystic hyperplasia of breast with liver depression and phlegm coagulation pattern.Methods Patients of cystic hyperplasia of breast with liver depression and phlegm coagulation pattern who were admitted to Zhumadian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and met the inclusion criteria were enrolled.They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using simple random sampling,with 40 cases in each group.During the study,1 case in the control group and 2 cases in the observation group dropped out,respectively.The control group received conventional treatment,while the observation group was treated with Huatan Sanjie Formula combined with indirect moxibustion.Both groups were treated for 3 menstrual cycles.The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom scores and total scores for breast mass,breast distending pain,and hypochondriac fullness were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Changes in breast mass scores(size,consistency,and pain),serum levels of estradiol(E2),progesterone(P),prolactin(PRL),and quality of life(QOL)scores were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results After treatment,the TCM symptom scores and total scores for breast mass,breast distending pain,and hypochondriac fullness,breast mass scores,serum E2 and PRL levels in both groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),while serum P level was significantly increased(P<0.05).The improvement of the above indicators in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Huatan Sanjie Formula combined with indirect moxibustion can effectively regulate hormone levels,correct the imbalance of estradiol/progesterone(E/P)ratio in patients of cystic hyperplasia of breast with liver depression and phlegm coagulation pattern,thereby alleviating clinical symptoms and pain,promoting mass absorption,and improving the QOL of patients.关键词
