Effects of Dietary Protein∶Net Energy Ratio on Growth Performance,Intestinal Digestion and Absorption Function and Empty Body Protein Deposition of Weaned Piglets

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary protein∶net energy ratio on growth performance,intestinal digestion and absorption function and empty body protein deposition of weaned piglets.Eighty"Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire"weaned piglets with body weight of(6.85±0.51)kg were selected.Five piglets were randomly selected for comparative slaughter on day 1,while the remaining 75 were randomly di-vided into 5 groups(groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ and Ⅴ),with 5 replicates per group and 3 piglets per replicate.The duration of the experiment was 42 d.The entire experiment was divided into 4 growth stages according to body weight:7 to 11 kg,11 to 15 kg,15 to 20 kg and 20 to 25 kg.The protein∶net energy ratio of the diet in each group was different,where group II adopted the recommended value from NRC(2012).For 7 to 11 kg piglets,the protein∶net energy ratios in diets of groups Ⅰ to Ⅴ were 20.96,20.06,19.26,18.52 and 17.83 g/MJ,respectively.For the three growth stages of 11 to 15 kg,15 to 20 kg and 20 to 25 kg,the dietary protein∶net energy ratios of groups Ⅰ to Ⅴ were 19.45,18.70,17.99,17.34 and 16.73 g/MJ,respectively.The results showed as follows:1)for the overall experimental period,with the decrease of dietary protein∶net energy ratio,the average daily gain and average daily feed intake of piglets showed a significant linear decrease(P<0.05).2)The jejunal trypsin activity showed a significant linear decrease with the decrease of dietary pro-tein∶net energy ratio(P<0.05),and the trypsin activity in the groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ was significantly higher than that in the group Ⅴ(P<0.05).3)The ileal villus height showed a significant linear increase with the decrease of dietary protein∶net energy ratio(P<0.05).4)The mRNA relative expression levels of ileal mucosal amino acid transporters-solute carrier family 6 member 19(SLC6A19)and solute carrier family 7 member 7(SLC7A7)showed a significant linear decrease with the decrease of dietary protein∶net energy ratio(P<0.05),and the mRNA relative expression level of SLC6A19 in the group Ⅴ was significantly lower than that in the group Ⅰ(P<0.05).5)With the decrease of protein∶net energy ratio,the empty body protein content,protein deposition and amino acid contents such as threonine,valine,lysine,histidine,aspartic acid,serine,glutamic acid and tyrosine showed a significant linear decrease(P<0.05).The content and deposition of empty body protein in group Ⅰ were significantly higher than those in group Ⅴ(P<0.05).The contents of methio-nine,isoleucine,leucine,phenylalanine,histidine,serine and tyrosine of empty body in the groups Ⅰ and Ⅱwere significantly higher than those in the group Ⅴ(P<0.05).In conclusion,under the conditions of this ex-periment,when dietary protein∶net energy ratios are 18.52 and 17.34 g/MJ for weaned piglets at the 7 to 11 kg and 11 to 25 kg stages,respectively,these ratios can maintain growth performance,intestinal digestive enzyme activities,intestinal morphology and amino acid transporter expression,while achieving a relatively high empty body protein content and deposition efficiency.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2026,38(5):3362-3373]关键词
