Effects of Dietary Soy Isoflavone Supplementation on Reproductive Performance,Ovarian Function,Serum Hormone Contents and Antioxidant Capacity of Breeding Geese

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with different levels of soy isoflavone(SIF)on reproductive performance,ovarian function,serum hormone contents and antioxidant capacity of breeding geese during the laying period.Six hundred Yangzhou geese with similar laying rate at 44 weeks of age were selected and randomly divided into 5 groups,with 6 replicates in each group and 20 geese in each replicate(4 males and 16 females).The control group was fed a basal diet without SIF sup-plementation,while the experimental groups were fed the basal diets supplemented with 50,100,150 and 200 mg/kg SIF,respectively.The experiment lasted for 13 weeks after 1 week adaptation.The results showed as follows:1)compared with the control group,the laying rate in 150 mg/kg SIF group was significantly in-creased(P<0.05).2)Compared with the control group,the ovary index in 100 mg/kg SIF group was signifi-cantly increased(P<0.05),and the numbers of small white follicles and small yellow follicles in 150 mg/kg SIF group were significantly increased(P<0.05).3)Compared with the control group,the contents of serum estradiol,luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone in each experimental group were significantly increased(P<0.05),which in 150 mg/kg SIF group were the highest;the serum adrenocorticotropic hormone content in 50,100 and 150 mg/kg SIF groups was significantly increased(P<0.05);the serum anti-Müllerian hormone content in 150 and 200 mg/kg SIF groups was significantly increased(P<0.05);the serum insulin-like growth factor-Ⅰ content in 50 and 100 mg/kg SIF groups was significantly increased(P<0.05);the ser-um progesterone content in 100,150 and 200 mg/kg SIF groups was significantly increased(P<0.05),which in 150 mg/kg SIF group was the highest.4)Compared with the control group,the ovarian total antioxidant ca-pacity(T-AOC)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity in 150 mg/kg SIF group were significantly in-creased(P<0.05),and the ovarian malondialdehyde(MDA)content was significantly decreased(P<0.05);the activities of ovarian superoxide dismutase and catalase in 150 and 200 mg/kg SIF groups were significantly increased(P<0.05).The GSH-Px activity in oviductal magnum in 150 and 200 mg/kg SIF groups was signifi-cantly increased(P<0.05),and the MDA content in oviductal magnum in 150 mg/kg SIF group was signifi-cantly decreased(P<0.05).The T-AOC in liver in 150 mg/kg SIF group was significantly increased(P<0.05).In conclusion,an appropriate level of dietary SIF supplementation can increase the laying rate of breed-ing geese during the laying period,promote the development of ovary and follicles,and enhance the serum hormone contents and the antioxidant capacity of the body.Under the conditions of this experiment,the appro-priate supplemental level of dietary SIF for breeding geese is 150 mg/kg.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutri-tion,2026,38(5):3446-3457]关键词
