Abstract

To address the requirement for wind-generated noise information in high sea states,a modeling study on wind-generated noise intensity is conducted.The influence of wind waves on noise energy manifests in two aspects:the noise source and the sound propagation process.The effect of wind waves on sound propagation is incorporated into the noise prediction model.Based on a noise source model,combined with a wave spectrum model,a near-surface bubble layer model,and the Ramsurf sound propagation model adapted for high sea states,a wind-generated noise intensity pre-diction model is established using the averaged cross-spectral density of sound pressure.Simulations are performed to analyze the impact of wind waves on wind-generated noise energy in the mid-to-high frequency band under different shallow-water acoustic environments.Simulation results indicate that,in a shallow-water environment with a positive gradient sound velocity profile,when the wind speed exceeds 10 m/s and the frequency band ranges from 2 to 4 kHz,the influence of wind waves on noise energy,arising from their effect on sound propagation,can reach 2 to 4 dB.This work is of practical significance for the refined prediction of wind-generated noise in high sea states and can support the corresponding requirements for wind-generated noise information assurance.
