Best Evidence Summary for Assessment and Management of Dysphagia in Patients with Parkinson's Disease

Abstract
Objective To summarize the best evidence for the assessment and management of dysphagia in patients with Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods The PIPOST tool was used to construct evidence-based practice questions.According to the"6S"pyramid model of evidence-based medicine,following the top-down retrieval principle,the literature about the assessment and management of dysphagia in PD patients was searched from UpToDate,the Guidelines International Network(GIN),BMJ Best Practice,Medlive,the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence(NICE)website,the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network(SIGN),Cochrane Library,the Australian Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI)Evidence Based Healthcare Research Center website,CINAHL,Embase,PubMed,CNKI,SinoMed,Wanfang Data,the American Parkinson Disease Association(APDA)website,the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society(MDS)website,the European Academy of Neurology(EAN)website,the American Academy of Neurology(AAN)website,and the Parkinson Canada website.The retrieval time limit was from database establishment to December 2025.Two researchers independently conducted literature quality evaluation,literature screening and content extraction,evidence extraction and summarization,and evidence grading assessment.Results A total of 11 articles were finally included,including 6 expert consensuses,3 guidelines,and 2 systematic reviews.Among the 3 guidelines included,2 were rated as A-level recommendations and 1 was rated as B-level recommendations.Among the 6 expert consensuses included,the 11 items of 5 expert consensuses were all rated as"yes";item 6 of 1 expert consensus was rated as"unclear",while the remaining items were all rated as"yes".The 11 items of the 2 included systematic reviews were all rated as"yes".Ultimately,the best evidence for the assessment and management of dysphagia in PD patients was formed,covering 5 aspects including the establishment of a multidisciplinary management team for dysphagia in PD patients,screening and assessment,swallowing function intervention,nutritional management,and oral care,with a total of 21 pieces of evidence.Conclusion This study summarizes the best evidence for the assessment and management of dysphagia in patients with PD,which covers 5 aspects including the establishment of a multidisciplinary management team for dysphagia in PD patients,screening and assessment,swallowing function intervention,nutritional management,and oral care,with a total of 21 pieces of evidence.This can provide more scientific guidance for medical workers to further conduct the assessment and management of dysphagia in patients with PD.关键词
