Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effects of adding a mycotoxin-adsorbing mineral functional material to the total mixed ration(TMR)on the health and milk quality of lactating dairy cows.A total of 180 lactating Holstein cows(90 primiparous and 90 multiparous)were selected and randomly divided into two groups within each parity:a control group(basal TMR)and a treatment group(basal TMR supplemented with 50 g/head/day of the mycotoxin-adsorbing mineral functional material,on a dry matter basis).The results showed that dietary supplementation with the mineral functional material had no significant effect on dry matter intake in either primiparous or multiparous cows(P > 0.05).In primiparous cows,aspartate aminotransferase(AST)levels were significantly higher in the control group than in the treatment group(P < 0.05),while insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)levels were significantly lower in the control group(P < 0.05).In multiparous cows,total protein and free fatty acid(FFA)levels were significantly lower in the treatment group compared with the control group(P < 0.05).Mycotoxin content in milk was below the maximum permitted level in all groups.In conclusion,under the conditions of this trial,supplementation with the mycotoxin-adsorbing mineral functional material promoted IGF-1 secretion in primiparous cows.IGF-1 is known to activate lactation-related signaling pathways,thereby potentially enhancing lactation performance and improving milk quality.
