Chief Physician CHEN Guangming's Experience in Treating Pediatric Adenoid Hypertrophy with Self-Formulated Sanjie Huayu Tongqiao Tang(散结化瘀通窍汤)

Abstract
Chief Physician CHEN Guangming believes that the core pathogenesis of pediatric adenoid hy-pertrophy is"deficiency of the lung and spleen as the root cause,and intermingled phlegm and blood stasis as the manifestation,"identifying phlegm-fluid retention and blood stasis as the two key pathogenic factors.Based on the distinct characteristics of the three stages of the disease——early,middle,and late——and drawing on years of clinical experience,Professor CHEN applies the self-formulated Sanjie Huayu Tongqiao Tang(散结化瘀通窍汤)with modifications according to the syndrome.In the early stage,the focus is on relieving exterior symptoms,with the addition of herbs that disperse external pathogens to support healthy qi and expel patho-genic factors.In the middle stage,when phlegm and blood stasis have intermingled for a prolonged period,the emphasis is on using high doses of phlegm-resolving and stasis-removing herbs to alleviate the swelling of the adenoids.In the late stage,when the lung and spleen have been impaired,the priority is to strengthen the root cause by adding mild tonics to the self-formulated decoction,which not only tonify the lung and spleen but also regulate qi movement,restoring the body's transportation and transformation functions.One medical case is ap-pended as evidence.关键词
