乡村公共文化空间再考:一个批判的视域
Rethinking Rural Public Cultural Space from a Critical Perspective

Abstract
As a pivotal issue in rural revitalization,rural public cultural space embodies both theoretical and practical inquiries into the revitalization of rural culture in contemporary China.Adopting a critical perspective,this article re-examines the conceptual underpinnings,public functions,and everyday-life manifestations of rural public cultural space,identifying several persistent limitations in both academic scholarship and policy implementation.In terms of academic conceptualization,research on rural public cultural space has coalesced around two dominant analytical frameworks:the space-society perspective and the history-power perspective.Concurrently,the field has undergone a notable disciplinary shift-from an initial geographical focus on sites of social interaction toward a public administration-oriented concern with institutionalized cultural venues.This administrative turn in theoretical construction has yielded a reductionist narrative,constrained by three interrelated biases:policy instrumentalism,modernization teleology,and spatial determinism.Regarding public functions,formal public cultural venues presuppose a modern,state-mediated conception of"publicness"oriented toward everyday-life governance and spatial substitution.Such a conception stands in structural tension with the vernacular,secular,and practice-based forms of publicness embedded in rural social life-rendering officially designated public spaces ill-suited to host informal,bottom-up public interactions grounded in everyday logics and local relationality.With respect to everyday-life forms,public cultural venues exhibit three salient tendencies:overreliance on festival-or event-driven temporal rhythms;a prescriptive impulse to standardize and"authentify"rural lifeworlds;a marked lag in responding to the emergent practices and infrastructures of digitally mediated rural life.Collectively,these tendencies erode the capacity of such venues to sustain,mediate,and meaningfully guide the evolving contours of everyday rural public life.Future efforts to construct rural public cultural space must therefore recenter rural culture as the foundational epistemic and normative standpoint;strengthen villagers'agency and participatory capacity;advance a paradigmatic shift from top-down cultural provision to collaborative cultural co-construction;and ultimately,foster a more resilient,adaptive,and endogenous rural cultural ecology.关键词
