摘要

Abstract

When subjected to strong acceleration,the working condition parameters of hydrodynamic end face sealing systems change drastically,which can easily cause the dynamic and stationary rings to collide and become damaged,leading to system instability.This issue has become a research hotspot in the field of sealing theory and technology.This paper reviews the development of research on the stability of hydrodynamic end face seals in recent years,systematically summarizing the research methods for end face seal stability,research progress on stability mechanisms,steady-state wear prediction,and control strategies.The analysis indicates a deeply coupled relationship between steady-state wear and system stability.The variation patterns of key performance parameters under stable operating conditions hold significant research value.Film thickness response analysis is an effective approach to investigate stability,and coordinated control is a key strategy for achieving system stability.At the same time,this paper points out the shortcomings in current stability research and outlines future research directions:there is a need to deeply reveal the intrinsic relationship between the response of the compensation ring and the amplitude,frequency,and phase of excitation;to explore the influence mechanism of the coupling effects of various system component parameters on stability;to establish stability discrimination methods applicable to systems with variable stiffness and damping;and to conduct experimental measurements using the Doppler effect principle.These directions will be important trends in this field for the foreseeable future.
