摘要

Abstract

Beef is a crucial source of high-quality protein,and its production and quality are directly linked to national food security and the economic well-being of farmers.Important economic traits in beef cattle,such as growth efficiency,meat quality and flavor,reproductive performance,and disease resistance,are complex quantitative traits regulated by the interactions of genetic,nutritional,and environmental factors.Traditional omics approaches,such as genomics and transcriptomics,often fall short in directly linking genetic information to terminal phenotypes.Metabolomics,by systematically analyzing all small-molecule metabolites within an organism,directly reflects the terminal biochemical output of gene-environment interactions,thereby serving as a bridge in the"gene-metabolite-phenotype"logical chain and emerging as a powerful tool for deciphering the mechanisms underlying complex traits.This review systematically summarized the basic concepts of metabolomics,its technological platforms,and its application in analyzing key traits like growth,meat quality,reproduction,and disease resistance in beef cattle.Furthermore,it explored specific pathways for integrating metabolomics with genomics,transcriptomics,and other omics approaches to promote the in-depth application of metabolomics in beef cattle genetic breeding.
