Abstract

A liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(LC-QTOF-MS)method was established for the simultaneous qualitative and quantitative determination of 27 per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)in drinking water,aiming to address the potential health hazards posed by PFAS,commonly dubbed"forever chemicals."Solid phase extraction was integrated into the sample pretreatment workflow to achieve target enrichment and matrix purification,which effectively mitigated matrix interference and drastically improved the analytical system's detection sensitivity.The full-scan MS with data-dependent MS2(Full MS-ddMS2)acquisition mode was deployed for precise qualitative screening of target PFAS contaminants.External standard calibration was applied for the quantitative analysis,and method validation was systematically implemented to assess the overall analytical performance.The 27 PFAS exhibited excellent linear fitting results within the concentration range of 0.005~0.2 mg/L,with all coefficients of determination(R2)exceeding0.9980.The spiked recoveries ranged from82.9%to108%,and the relative standard deviations(RSD)ranged from 1.2%to 8.6%.The limits of quantification for all 27 target PFAS were in the range of 0.01~0.05 ng/mL.All validation indicators fully complied with the technical specifications for trace-level contaminant analysis in aqueous matrices.With its demonstrated high accuracy and robust stability,this approach is promising for the routine detection and comprehensive analysis of PFAS residues in drinking water.It provides crucial technical support for market supervision authorities conducting random inspection programs on drinking water quality,as well as reliable scientific references for pollution source tracing and health risk assessment of PFAS contamination in drinking water supply systems.
