From"A Gender-Specific Lens"to"A Gender-Neutral Lens":An Analysis of Kuang Zhouyi's Comments on Gu Taiqing's Ci-Poetry

Abstract
In his theoretical construction,Kuang Zhouyi carved out an independent critical realm for female Ci-poetry by advocating"adopting a gender-specific lens",and hailed Gu Taiqing's Ci-poems as the paradigm of female Ci-poetry.Nevertheless,the distinctive feature of Gu's Ci-poems—"profound stability and composed depth"—transcended the constraints of gender.This prompted Kuang Zhouyi to integrate her works into the classic Ci-poetic framework of"weightiness,simplicity and grandeur"with"a gender-neutral lens"in his specific critical practice.This dual-pronged critical approach,combining the"gender-specific"and"gender-neutral"perspectives,not only enriched Kuang's own Ci-poetry theoretical system but also elevated Gu Taiqing to the canonical standing of"the greatest female Ci-poet after Li Qingzhao".Kuang Zhouyi's critical practice offers profound enlightenment for us to emphasize the"Ci-poetry-centric essence"while acknowledging the unique gender attributes of literary works.关键词
