The Relationship between Qin-Han Military Heroes and Imperial Power:A Case Study of Fan Kuai in Historical Records
摘要
Abstract
Fan Kuai was loyal and had remarkable military achievements.Fan Kuai,Cao Shen,and Guan Ying were all talented individuals.Fan Kuai's intention to attack the Xiongnu indicates his recklessness and his strategic planning was inferior to that of Han Xin.Fan Kuai's advice reflected his wisdom and decisiveness.Returning to Bashang,he suggested to Liu Bang that he should return without parting at Hongmen Banquet.After Liu Bang established the Han Dynasty,he also advised Liu Bang to keep close to virtuous officials and distance himseld from sycophantic officials.The rise and fall of Fan Kuai and his family were all related to the imperial power,revealing the subtle relationship between the emperor and the offi-cials who achieved great accomplishments.The emperor would suppress the official group that held power in order to pre-serve his own power.During periods of declining imperial power(such as the enthronement of a new emperor),ministers would intervene in the selection of a new emperor to safeguard the interests of the official group.However,the political fate of the ministers depended on whether they were favored by the emperor.关键词
