Abstract

This study developed a multi-source satellite remote sensing-based method for rapidly assessing the local climate impacts of large-scale PV installations.The method was applied to the Talatan Photovoltaic Power Generation Park in Gonghe County,Qinghai Province—a representative large-scale PV facility in China.Changes in land surface temperature(LST)and albedo were analyzed through comparison between the PV area and a surrounding control area,as well as between pre-and post-construction periods,to quantify the local climate impacts.The results show that after construction,both albedo and LST within the PV area were markedly lower than those in the control area.The greatest reduction in albedo occurred in winter,while the largest daytime LST decrease was observed in spring.Nighttime LST differences were relatively small.After controlling for broader climate change effects,statistically significant decreases were found in albedo,daytime LST,and nighttime LST within the PV area(p<0.0001 for albedo and daytime LST differences;p<0.001 for the annual mean nighttime LST difference).The annual mean albedo decreased by approximately 0.048,with the largest reduction in winter(approximately 0.073).The annual mean daytime LST decreased by approximately 2.02℃with the most pronounced drop in spring(approximately 2.97℃).The nighttime cooling effect was generally weaker,with a mean reduction of approximately 0.41℃.
