Exploring the Theory of Epilepsy Diagnosis and Treatment from the Middle Qi Mediation in the Perspective of Xiang Thinking

Abstract
The theory of middle Qi mediation constitutes the core content for interpreting the circulation and ascending-descending movement of Qi in the human body,and represents an important manifestation of Xiang thinking in traditional Chinese medicine.This paper elucidates the pathogenesis of epilepsy through the theory of middle Qi mediation from the perspective of Xiang thinking,holding that the failure of middle Qi is the key issue leading to the disconnection of Yin and Yang and the disturbance of the spirit mechanism.This further results in"Ji Tu failing to ascend,leading to impaired fluid distribution and accumulation of phlegm-dampness","imbalance between Jin and Mu,causing internal stirring of wind and blood stasis",and"Wu Tu failing to descend,leading to upward flaming of fire and restlessness of the spirit",which constitute the pathological basis of epilepsy.In treatment,by supplementing the earth and fortifying the center to restore its mediating function,the effect of"driving the wheels with the axle"is achieved.Combined with four-dimensional regulation and treatment to disperse the four pathogenic factors,the ascending-descending function of Qi is restored,thereby calming the brain collaterals and smoothing the spirit mechanism.关键词
