Professor CHEN Hua's Experience in Treating Pediatric Enuresis by Inheriting the Academic Characteristics of Zhejiang School of Traditional Chinese Medicine Pediatrics

Abstract
[Objective]To summarize Professor CHEN Hua's experience in differentiation and treatment of pediatric enuresis,and to explore the"four-dimensional integration"differentiation and treatment model developed on the basis of inheriting the academic characteristics of Zhejiang school of traditional Chinese medicine pediatrics.[Methods]Through following Professor CHEN in clinical practice,taking into account the academic characteristics of Zhejiang school of traditional Chinese medicine pediatrics,Professor CHEN's clinical experience in treating pediatric enuresis was systematically analyzed from the perspective of etiology and pathogenesis,treatment principles and methods,prescription and medication features,coordinated external therapies,dietary regulation and psychosomatic nursing,and was further illustrated with a representative clinical case.[Results]On the basis of inheriting the academic characteristics of Zhejiang school of traditional Chinese medicine pediatrics,Professor CHEN proposes that the basic pathogenesis of pediatric enuresis is insufficiency of kidney Yang and failure of bladder restraint,with dysfunction of the lung and spleen and impaired Qi transformation being the pivotal mechanism,accompanied with liver dysfunction,mixture of deficiency and excess,and dysregulation of mental activities with abnormal opening and closing.The disorder is therefore characterized by root deficiency,branch excess,and simultaneous involvement of body and spirit.Based on this understanding,Professor CHEN proposes"strengthening the root and securing restraint,regulating Qi movement and calming the spirit"as the core treatment principles,and developes a"four-dimensional integration"treatment approach consisting of"internal herbal treatment to strengthen the root,coordinated external therapies to reinforce restraint,dietary regulation to harmonize Qi movement,and psychosomatic co-regulation to calm the spirit".The attached representative case was diagnosed as enuresis of the spleen-kidney deficiency pattern and was treated with the principle of strengthening the root and securing restraint,regulating Qi movement and calming the spirit,combining internal and external therapies and assisted by dietary regulation and psychosomatic care,thereby demonstrating its clinical efficacy.[Conclusion]Professor CHEN Hua has inherited and further developed the academic characteristics of Zhejiang school of traditional Chinese medicine pediatrics.Based on the pathogenesis of pediatric enuresis,Professor CHEN Hua has gradually developed a"four-dimensional integrated"therapeutic model combining internal herbal treatment,coordinated external therapies,dietary regulation and psychosomatic co-regulation,which provides a new perspective for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric enuresis and has certain value for clinical application.关键词
