Review on quality control technologies and authenticity markers of Angelica sinensis

Abstract
Angelica sinensis,a traditional large-volume authentic medicinal herb in China,is extensively employed in clinical settings due to its efficacy in replenishing blood,promoting blood circulation,regulating menstruation,and relieving pain.Its quality control and authenticity are pivotal to clinical therapeutic effects.In recent years,the in-depth integration of chromatography-mass spectrometry technology,multi-omics techniques,and bioinformatics tools has driven leapfrog advancements in research on the quality control and authenticity of Angelica sinensis,leading to the gradual establishment of a multi-dimensional and multi-level evaluation model with several notable breakthroughs.In the realm of quality control,technical approaches have evolved into chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques.Through the establishment of characteristic fingerprints of Angelica sinensis coupled with chemometric methodologies,the accurate quantification of active components has been achieved.The spectrum-effect relationship has elucidated the dose-effect correlation between active component clusters and blood-tonifying efficacy,thereby improving the scientific rigor and targeting of quality assessment.Molecular pharmacognosy techniques have been applied to analyze the genetic diversity of germplasm resources and the expression discrepancies of key genes associated with the synthesis of phenolic acids and flavonoids,uncovering the intrinsic link between germplasm genetic background and quality stability.Metabolomics has comprehensively identified metabolic differential profiles between authentic and non-authentic Angelica sinensis,facilitating the screening of origin-specific quality markers(Q-markers).In the study of authenticity markers,leveraging interdisciplinary integration,rhizosphere-dominant microflora has been identified as a key microbial marker of authenticity;specific inorganic elements can act as geographical chemical markers for authentic Angelica sinensis;while chemical constituents including L-glutamine,Z-ligustilide,and total ferulic acid have been recognized as the primary differential chemical components between authentic and non-authentic producing regions.Nevertheless,the elucidation of core scientific questions remains inadequate,including the interaction mechanisms between rhizosphere microbial communities and secondary metabolite biosynthesis,as well as the pathways by which inorganic elements modulate authentic quality.The intrinsic correlation among"producing region-marker-authentic attribute"has not been fully deciphered.There is an urgent need to further establish a quality standard system that integrates"characteristic chemistry+pharmacological activity+authenticity markers".Furthermore,it is imperative to strengthen the protection and development mechanisms of authentic medicinal materials and advance the sustainable development of the authentic Angelica sinensis industry via policy guidance and technological popularization.关键词
