Abstract
The safe and stable operation of tailings ponds is a critical guarantee for the safe production of enterprises such as metallurgical mines and thermal power plants. In cold regions, tailings dams face prominent safety hazards due to freeze-thaw cycles and complex geological conditions, making drainage and reinforcement particularly crucial. This paper focuses on a dry tailings pond in Northeast China, applying gas-driven drainage technology to reinforce the dam structure in response to extreme low temperatures, complex geology and high cohesion of tailings.Through innovative solutions, such as optimized drilling techniques, wall protection measures and anti-freeze pipeline materials,50 drainage wells were successfully constructed and the system installed.Operational results show that the system achieves an average daily drainage volume of 200 m³,significantly lowering the saturation line. The moisture content of the tailings moisture content decreased from 27%to 18%and dam displacement was controlled within 1 mm,effectively resolving issues such as cracks and piping caused by freeze-thaw action. The gas-driven drainage technology offers advantages including minimal disturbance to the dam body, simple construction, low cost and environmental safety. It fills the technical gap in tailings dam reinforcement in cold regions of China and provides valuable experience for similar projects.关键词
