摘要

Abstract

The pollen development of Rosa cymosa was observed using cytology and hybridization experiments were conducted with three mod-ern roses.Paraffin method revealed that the newly formed microspore tetrads of R.cymosa are enveloped by callose.As the surrounding cal-lose degrades,polygonal microspores(uninucleate pollen)are released.Subsequently,spherical uninucleate peripheral microspores was formed at the peripheral stage after vacuolization.These uninucleate peripheral microspores then undergo an unequal mitotic division,giving rise to a large vegetative cell and a small generative cell.During the development of the bicellular pollen,the generative cell detaches from the pollen wall and integrates into the cytoplasm of the vegetative cell,forming a"cell within a cell"structure.Abnormal pollen grains,in which the generative cell fails to enter the vegetative cell,were observed in the anthers of open flowers,accounting for 16.3%of the total.The ma-ture pollen grain is of the bicellular type.For hybrid pollination of R.cymosa,flower buds with a diameter of 0.45 cm and at the initial slitting stage of the sepals should be collected.When R.cymosa was used as the pollen parent in crosses with three modern rose cultivars"Hi-ohgi","Pink Fan",and"Golden Scepter"),no hybrid seeds were obtained.
