Experience of HE Chengshi in differentiating and treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-associated tracheobronchomalacia from the perspective of tonifying the kidney and strengthening the bone

Abstract
Tracheobronchomalacia associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is a common but easily overlooked and misdiagnosed benign central airway stenotic disease,mainly caused by weakened airway cartilage that is unable to support the normal airway lumen structure.Professor HE Chengshi,based on his clinical experience,believes that the fundamental pathogenesis of this disease is deficiency of the lung and kidney,accompanied by bone weakness and sinking of qi.From the perspective of"tonifying the kidney and strengthening the bone",he established the principal therapeutic methods of simultaneous treatment of the lung and kidney,strengthening bones and replenishing essence,invigorating the spleen and nourishing the liver,and promoting blood circulation and resolving phlegm.Based on the empirical Tiaobu Feishen Formula and through flexible modifications according to clinical presentation,Professor HE Chengshi has achieved remarkable clinical efficacy,providing a new approach for the diagnosis and treatment of COPD-associated tracheobronchomalacia.关键词
