Abstract

To clarify the effects of different mixing ratios of Amaranthus cruentus and Sorghum bicolor on silage quality,seven mixed silage ratios were set up,namely 10꞉0(A10),7꞉3(A7),6꞉4(A6),5꞉5(A5),4꞉6(A4),3꞉7(A3),and 0꞉10(A0),and the silage fermentation was conducted for 60 days.The mixed silage of A.cruentus and S.bicolor was comprehensively evaluated for its fermentation quality,nutritional composition,and aerobic stability.The results showed that the fermentation quality of A.cruentus ensiled alone was unsatisfactory,while the addition of S.bicolor could effectively improve its quality.Specifically,this improvement was reflected in a significant increase in sensory score,lactic acid content and aerobic stability,as well as a significant decrease in pH value and the ratio of ammonia nitrogen to total nitrogen.Meanwhile,the addition of S.bicolor also helped reduce the contents of crude ash and acid detergent lignin,and increase the dry matter content,thereby enhancing the silage quality of A.cruentus.The grey relational grade of silage quality among the seven treatment groups was ranked from high to low as follows:A5>A6>A3>A7>A4>A0>A10.In conclusion,adding S.bicolor to A.cruentus silage can improve the silage quality,and the mixing ratio of A.cruentus to S.bicolor of 5꞉5 demonstrates the optimal comprehensive performance.
