Abstract
The integration of domestic and international trade serves as a crucial pathway for achieving the dual circulation strategy,necessitating the establishment of an intellectual property protection mechanism grounded in respect for knowledge and encouragement of innovation.Using city-level data from 282 cities between 2006 and 2023,this study employs intellectual property demonstration cities as a quasi-natural experiment and applies a multi-period difference-in-differences approach to examine the impact of intellectual property protection on domestic-international trade integration.Findings reveal that intellectual property demonstration city policies effectively enhance urban domestic-international trade integration levels,with this conclusion remaining valid across a series of robustness tests.Mechanism analysis indicates that intellectual property protection promotes domestic-international trade integration by strengthening urban innovation drivers and elevating market integration levels.Further analysis reveals that entrepreneurial activity and openness to foreign trade synergize with intellectual property protection to jointly elevate trade integration levels.Conversely,fiscal pressures on local governments inhibit the positive effects of intellectual property protection on trade integration.Consequently,this study recommends strengthening intellectual property protection systems and promoting deeper integration between domestic and international markets.关键词
