Abstract

To investigate the alkaline tolerance of soybean during germination in the West Liaohe Plain,237 soybean germ-plasms from this region were used as materials.By analyzing the effects of different concentrations of alkaline stress on five germination indicators(germination rate,germination potential,germination index,hypocotyl length,and root length),alkaline-tolerant germplasms at the germination stage were screened using comprehensive methods including variance analysis,princi-pal component analysis,and fuzzy membership function analysis.The results showed that,based on the comprehensive consid-eration of the alkaline solution concentration corresponding to 50%of the alkali damage index for germination rate,germina-tion potential,and germination index,100 mmol/L was determined as the optimal concentration for screening alkaline toler-ance of soybean at the germination stage.The inhibition degree of the five germination indicators by alkaline solution,from highest to lowest,was as follows:root length(77.16%),germination potential(57.03%),hypocotyl length(53.09%),germination index(48.47%),and germination rate(41.18%).Principal component analysis was performed on the five indicators,and the cu-mulative contribution rate of the first two principal components reached 83.927%,with the first principal component having a weight of 64.97%and the second principal component having a weight of 35.03%.D values were calculated based on the fac-tor weights,and the top five alkaline tolerant germplasms were screened as follows with Gongjiao11829-16(0.682),Ping'an001(0.624),Heinong531(0.512),Mengkedou27(0.500),and Dongsheng78(0.500).Further systematic cluster analysis classified the tested materials into 2 highly alkaline tolerant germplasms,94 alkaline tolerant germplasms,99 alkaline sensi-tive germplasms,and 42 highly alkaline sensitive germplasms.
