How Is Ethical Totality Possible
摘要
Abstract
This paper provides an analysis of the philological characteristics,conceptual content,and philosophical value for the critique of modernity in Hegel's early manuscript entitled System of Ethical Life.It argues that this manuscript is Hegel's first systematic attempt during his Jena period to construct his philosophy of spirit.Starting from the most primitive human material needs,its core objective is to de-duce forms of thought and social organization,aiming to overcome the divisions of modernity represented by the philosophies of Kant and Fichte,and to reconstruct an immanent,organic ethical totality.Method-ologically,the manuscript primarily adopts Schelling's method of potencies,yet its conceptual core already demonstrates Hegel's originality,particularly in the application of the principle of negativity.Contrary to the mainstream stereotype of Hegel as a purely speculative system-builder,System of Ethical Life reveals him as a thinker offering a profound diagnosis of the crisis of modernity.关键词
