Abstract

To tackle the difficulty in quantitatively evaluating the on-orbit calibration accuracy of spacecraft gyroscopes,a three-segment on-orbit mission scheme,that is pre-calibration check,gyro calibration,and post-calibration check,is proposed,together with the check trajectory performance index.During calibration,star-tracker measurements and a Kalman filter are employed to estimate the gyro scale factors,biases and misalignments.The check performance index is defined as the maximum attitude error of Euler's eigenaxis angle during the whole check process.By comparing the indices before and after calibration,the effectiveness of the on-orbit gyro calibration is quantitatively assessed.Mathematical simulations using a sinusoidal angular-rate trajectory for checking and a constant-rate trajectory for calibration show that the attitude determination accuracy is significantly improved after the calibrated parameters are applied.
