Abstract

To improve the combustion and ejection performance of aluminum-water propellants,ammonium perchlorate(AP)was introduced into the aluminum-water propellant system,and Cu-HOF catalyst was further incorporated to promote AP de-composition.Thermogravimetric analysis(TG),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),laser ignition tests,and combustion-product characterization were conducted to evaluate the thermal reactivity and ignition/combustion behaviors of the propel-lants.The results show that adding Cu-HOF markedly reduces the dehydration-related mass loss near 100℃,and advances the exothermic decomposition peak temperature of AP from 298.5℃ to 261.1℃,increasing the total heat release to approxi-mately 210J/g.Meanwhile,the exothermic peak temperature associated with aluminum oxidation shiftes from 829.3℃ to 790.5℃,with the oxidation heat release increasing to 910J/g;the residual mass fraction decreases from 73.4%to 68.1%,indicating that the catalyst effectively enhances aluminum oxidation.Laser ignition results demonstrate that the ignition delay time is further shortened from 137 ms to 51 ms,and the burning rate increases from 1.44 mm/s to 1.7 mm/s with Cu-HOF,re-spectively.The condensed combustion products analysis show that the combustion efficiency increases from 79%to 93%,and the ejection efficiency improves from 28%to 35%after adding Cu-HOF.Overall,Cu-HOF significantly improves ignition,combustion,and injection characteristics by suppressing water evaporation and catalyzing AP decomposition,which provide an effective approach for enhancing the performance of aluminum-water propellants.
