Liquid Metal Enabled Space Thermal Management Technology:Development Progress and Prospects

Abstract
Liquid metals have demonstrated significant advantages in the thermal management of high-power electronic devices on the ground,and hold promising potentials for space thermal management applications.This review first introduces the basic properties of liquid metals and their convective heat transfer mechanisms,highlighting their significant advantages in terms of heat dissipation performance compared with traditional working fluids.Then,focusing on the heat transfer paths in space thermal management systems,the applications and technological progress of liquid metals are systematically summarized in three key aspects,i.e.,heat collection,heat transport,and heat dissipation,covering the cutting-edge research in several key fields,e.g.,liquid metal thermal interface material,heat sink,driving technology,radiation enhancement technology,and the phase change thermal control of low-melting-point alloys.Finally,the existing research results of liquid metals for space applications are introduced,and the potential development directions are suggested.This review aims to provide a reference for the engineering applications of liquid metals in space thermal management to promote their further development in the aerospace field.关键词
