Penetration of Artificial Intelligence,Changes of Employment Structure and Common Prosperity of Urban and Rural Areas

Abstract
As a key common technology,artificial intelligence has gradually permeated all fields of social production and daily life,continuously narrowing the urban-rural development gap and exerting profound impacts on achieving the goal of com-mon prosperity in urban and rural areas.This paper is based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2024 to em-pirically test the intrinsic relationship among"artificial intelligence penetration—changes in employment structure—common prosperity of urban and rural areas".The research finds that the impact of artificial intelligence penetration on common prosperity of urban and rural areas presents a"U-shaped"characteristic.The mechanism analysis results indicate that changes in employ-ment structure are the key transmission path through which artificial intelligence penetration affects common prosperity of urban and rural areas,and the mediating effect of changes in industrial employment structure is stronger than that of changes in sectoral employment structure.Further research finds that the empowering effect of artificial intelligence penetration on common prosperity of urban and rural areas is stronger in the eastern region and provinces with a higher degree of marketization.To this end,the pa-per presents suggestions to strengthen the penetration effect of artificial intelligence,accelerate the upgrading of employment structure,and implement classified empowerment strategies,providing theoretical references for accelerating the advancement of Chinese-style modernization.关键词
