Breeding of a new watermelon cultivar Jinli

Abstract
Jinli is a new medium-sized watermelon cultivar of the first generation through hybridization and selection with the inbred line W55 as the female parent and W78 as the male parent.This cultivar has medium growth vigor and is moderately mature.When cultivated in the open field in Wuwei city,Gansu province in spring,the whole growth period is 96 days,and the fruit development period is 33 days.The first female flower is located at the 6th node,with 5 internodes between the female flowers.It is easy to set fruit,with oval-shaped fruits and no wax powder on the fruit skin.The single fruit mass is 6.2 kg.The flesh is red,crisp with moderate sweetness.The peel thickness is 1.1 cm,with yellow base color and distinct stripes.The soluble solids content in the center is 12.1％,and at the edge it is 9.8％.It is moderately resistant to Fusarium wilt,anthracnose and downy mildew,and highly resistant to powdery mildew.The average yield per 667 m2 was 4 406.40 kg.It is suitable for planting in spring and autumn in Gansu province in the Northwest ecological area,Shandong province and Henan province in the North China ecological area,and Jiangsu province in the East China ecological area.关键词
