Governance Pathways for Perceived Artificial Intelligence Displacement Risk in the Digital Intelligence Era:From A Dual Perspective on Digital Skills and the Digital Economy
摘要
Abstract
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence(AI)technology has triggered profound transformations in the labor market. However, the existing researches primarily focus on the objective consequences of technological substitution, with limited attention given to the subjective perception of such displacement risks. This study examines the actual state of AI displacement risk perception among Chinese workers to explore governance pathways, emphasizing individual digital skills as human capital in the digital era and their systemic roles supported by regional digital economies. It has found that:(1)Perceived AI displacement risk among Chinese workers currently stands at a moderate level overall, though workers lacking institutional protections perceive greater AI displacement risk;(2)Work-related digital skills significantly mitigate perceived AI substitution risk, with this effect being more pronounced among workers lacking institutional protections;(3)Work-related digital skills mitigate perceived AI displacement risk by enhancing workers' returns on both work processes and outcomes—specifically, work authority and income;(4)Regional advancements in digital economic development amplify the mitigating effect of job-related digital skills on perceived AI displacement risk. These findings not only reveal novel manifestations of AI displacement risk from workers' subjective perspectives but also broaden the definition of human capital by emphasizing digital skills. This holds significant implications for preventing and mitigating AI-induced social risks in the digital intelligence era.关键词
