Abstract
On April 23–24,2026,the 2026 IPE Council Meeting and Petroleum Economic Information Exchange was held in Wuhu,Anhui Province. The meeting reviewed the work of the journal's council in 2025 and featured special reports on the impact of turbulent geopolitical conditions on the oil market and China's macroeconomic situation at the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan. The key takeaways include that the conflict involving the U.S.,Israel,and Iran has not ushered in a disruptive new phase for the global landscape, and the overall order remains stable, the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz serves as a warning that energy security is the bottom line for development and energy transition is the key to breaking the deadlock, and China's goal of achieving an average annual GDP growth rate of 4.5%to 5%by 2030 is both ambitious and pragmatic, requiring the continuous development of new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions.During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the petrochemical industry faces both opportunities and challenges in its transition, requiring it to achieve breakthroughs through such four strategic pathways as reshaping development positioning, advancing structural optimization, strengthening technological innovation, and accelerating digital and intelligent empowerment. As a new type of unconventional natural gas,coal-rock gas will serve as a crucial strategic successor for sustaining China's natural gas growth.Since China possesses both resource potential and development momentum in the marine energy sector, the integrated development of China's marine energy resources will usher in new and significant strategic opportunities with the deepening implementation of a series of national strategies including the initiatives to build a maritime power and an energy powerhouse, and to advance deep-sea engineering.关键词
