Abstract
The global deep-water oil and gas landscape is dominated by South America and Africa, presenting a pattern of"South America as the core,Africa on the rise,North America as a supplement, and Asia with potential",with the Guyana-Suriname and Santos basins in South America on both sides of the Atlantic being the most concentrated regions for global discoveries and resources, while exploration and production technologies are evolving toward intelligence, efficiency, and low-carbon practices.South America remains a key investment hub, whereas North America has seen investment rise then decline,Africa shows fluctuating growth,Asia maintains a modest scale, and the Middle East,Europe, and Oceania exhibit small and highly volatile investment levels, with Russia contributing very little.Though deep-water development faces such significant hurdles as high costs, high technological barriers,low-carbon transition pressures, and complex geopolitical risks, the paper proposes that Chinese oil and gas companies focus on cost-competitive basins and optimize global assets layout, strengthen innovative-driven changes and achieve key technological breakthroughs, continually deepen cooperation and innovate business mode&management, strengthen risk management and deal with multiple challenges, and proactively align with the energy transition and secure long-term competitiveness.关键词
