Abstract
The decoction method significantly influenced the clinical efficacy of classical formulas,yet it is often overlooked in practice.As a representative formula for releasing the exterior with pungent-cool herbs,Yinqiao powder's decoction principles are particularly crucial,and investigating them helps elucidate the importance of principles and rules in classical formulas.According to the Detailed Analysis of Epidemic Warm Diseases,"treating upper jiao is like treating a feather,nothing but light should be used".The decoction of Yinqiao powder emphasizes short decoction with high heat,taking the decoction as soon as the aromatic essence is released,as well as dynamic administration principles such as"first inhaling the steam,then sipping the decoction"and"short-interval dosing".This case report described a patient with wind-heat cold.The previous physician prescribed Yinqiao powder prepared by prolonged decoction,but the patient's sore throat worsened instead.After taking over the case,the author did not change the formula but strictly followed the above decoction principles,replacing prolonged decoction with short decoction over high heat to capture the"aromatic qi,"and adopted sequential administration(first inhaling the steam,then sipping the decoction)along with short-interval dynamic dosing.The patient improved after one dose and recovered completely after two doses.A review of five similar cases treated with the same therapeutic approach over the past three years showed that the curative effect is significantly improved after the optimization of the decoction administration method.Literature data analysis revealed that the dissolution rate of volatile active ingredients in Yinqiao powder reaches its peak when decocted for 5 to 10 minutes,which is highly consistent with the classical principle of"avoid over-decoction".The key to the efficacy of Yinqiao powder lies in the strict adherence to and flexible application of its decoction principles.In clinical practice,attention should be paid to the"complete set of rules"of a formula,as subtle details matter greatly,thereby improving clinical outcomes.关键词
