Optical fiber EFPI-FBG hybrid sensor for oil film temperature and pressure detection in sliding bearings

Abstract
To measure the oil film temperature and pressure in a sliding bearing,a hybrid sensor integrating an optical fiber ex-trinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer(EFPI)and a fiber Bragg grating(FBG)is designed.The sensor consists of an FBG and a microbubble-based FP cavity.The microbubble FP cavity is fabricated by etching a multimode optical fiber followed by elec-tric arc discharge,and then coated with nickel via electroless plating.Temperature and pressure calibration setups are used to conduct calibration experiments on the hybrid sensor.The experimental results show that within the pressure range of 0~10 MPa,the pressure sensitivities of the FBG center wavelength and the FP cavity length are-3.24 pm/MPa and-7.23 nm/MPa,respectively,with both linear correlation coefficients exceeding 0.99.Meanwhile,within the temperature range of-40~120 ℃,the temperature sensitivities of the FBG center wavelength and the FP cavity length are 10.35 pm/℃ and 0.2941 nm/℃,demon-strating a significant temperature compensation effect.关键词
