Abstract

A ruthenium-doped nickel hydroxide nanosheet catalyst(Ru/Ni(OH)2)was synthesized via the solvothermal method.The phase structure,morphological characteristics,and elemental valence states of the Ru/Ni(OH)2 composite catalyst were analyzed using a series of physical characterization techniques(XRD,XPS,SEM and TEM).The enhancement mechanism of ruthenium doping on the electrocatalytic performance for the urea oxidation reaction(UOR)was systematically investigated.The experimental results demonstrate that the constructed ruthenium-nickel dual-active-site synergy promotes UOR performance.The prepared Ru/Ni(OH)2-3 catalyst requires only 1.39 V(vs.RHE)to achieve a current density of 10 mA/cm2 in a 1 mol/L KOH/0.33 mol/L urea electrolyte.It exhibits a Tafel slope of 49.80 mV/dec and maintains 86.12%of its initial current density after continuous electrolysis for 65,000 seconds.These results indicate outstanding catalytic performance and stability.
