Auditory as Method:The Sensory Politics of Zhaoshuli's Aduitory Narrative and Popular Literature

Abstract
Through the creative transformation and absorption of folk oral traditions such as storytell-ing,clapper talk,local opera,and folk ballads,Zhao Shuli successfully elevated auditory elements into an intrinsic narrative driving force within his texts,an effective mechanism for mobilizing class consciousness,and a cultural communication medium that transcends the barrier of literacy.His works rely heavily on the mode of dissemination through oral performance and auditory reception,thereby effectively penetrating the grassroots of rural society and achieving specific goals of political enlightenment and communal emotional bonding.Zhao Shuli's creative practice demonstrates a conscious shift from the"readable"to the"audible":his textual structure,character language,and soundscape organization jointly construct a sensory communica-tion system oriented toward rural society.On the one hand,by employing the rhythm of clapper talk,the mimicry of storytelling intonation,and the rhythmic control of local dialects,the works skillfully embed revo-lutionary discourse into familiar folk sound forms,promoting political ideas at the grassroots level and accom-plishing the ideological enlightenment and collective identity construction of the populace.On the other hand,the sound imagery presented in the works'soundscapes contains rich semantic ambiguity and multiple interpretive spaces,allowing the texts,while fulfilling the ideological propaganda function of a specific his-torical period,to retain an aesthetic tension and humanistic concern that transcends their time.Zhao Shuli's creative transformation of folk sound resources is not only a concrete practice and localized cultivation of the"popularization"line advocated by Yan'an literature and art,but also an important academic incision point for modern literary studies to move from visual centrism toward the analysis of sensory politics.关键词
