Dyspnea-related fear in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease:a conceptual analysis

Abstract
Objective To define the concept of dyspnea-related fear in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)using Walker and Avant's concept analysis method.Methods Systematic searches were conducted in databases including CNKI,Wanfang Database,PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,Embase,and CINHAL.Literature was screened according to the inclu-sion and exclusion criteria.Results Thirty articles in Chinese and English were included.The attributes of dyspnea-related fear in COPD patients comprised anticipatory anxiety,catastrophic cognition,and behavioral avoidance.The antecedent variables included the severity of dyspnea and acute exacerbation.The consequences primarily encompassed impact on quality of life,rehabilitation participa-tion,and physical health.Conclusion Clarifying the concept of dyspnea-realted fear in COPD patients provide a clear framework for healthcare professionals to accurately identify and assess the condition,thereby offering insights for developing systematic and per-sonalized care plans for COPD patients.关键词
