摘要

Abstract

[Objective]The gasotransmitter hydrogen sulfide(H2S)is well-documented in modulating stomatal movement,yet its involvement in stomatal development remains elusive.This study aims to elu-cidate the mechanistic impact of H2S signaling on stomatal development.[Method]Using Arabidopsis thaliana Col-0,the H2S-deficient double mutant lcd/des1,and the stomatal master regulator mutant spch,we combined genetic and pharmacological approaches to systematically evaluate the role of H2S in stomatal development under water-deficit conditions.[Result]Exogenous H2S significantly increased stomatal density in newly emerged leaves of drought-stressed plants.Transcript analysis revealed that the mRNA levels of the core stomatal transcription factors FAMA,MUTE and SPCH responded specifically to H2S.Biochemical assays further demonstrated that FAMA and MUTE undergo H2S-mediated persulfidation,a post-translational modification that markedly enhances their protein stability.[Conclusion]H2S regulates stomatal development through a dual mechanism that integrates transcrip-tional control and persulfidation dependent stabilization of key transcription factors.
