Abstract

To elucidate the effects of light intensity on lily growth and anthocyanin synthesis,four light intensity gradients were set up under greenhouse conditions,including natural light(CK),75%natural light(T1),50%natural light(T2)and 25%natural light(T3).The plant growth morphology,photosynthetic parameters,activities of key photosynthetic enzymes,anthocyanin content,and activities of anthocyanin synthesis-related enzymes were determined and analyzed.The results indicated that plant height,internode length and flower bud length of lily under T1 treatment were significantly higher than those under T2 and T3 treatments,and no significant difference in plant height was observed between T1 treatment and CK.Photosynthetic rate decreased gradually with the reduction of light intensity.The ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase(Rubisco)activity of CK and T1 treatments were remarkably higher than those of T2 and T3 treatments,indicating that low light significantly inhibited photosynthetic enzyme activity.The anthocyanin content in the tepals of lilies increased first and then decreased during flowering,with the highest content at the flowering stage,and shading treatments significantly reduced anthocyanin accumulation.T3 treatment dramatically inhibited the activities of phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL)and anthocyanin synthase(ANS)but induced the increases of chalcone flavanone isomerase(CHI)and dihydroflavonol 4-reductase(DFR)activities,thereby establishing a low-light adaptation mechanism.In conclusion,appropriate light intensity can maintain a high photosynthetic metabolic level and ensure normal growth and anthocyanin accumulation of lilies.The findings provide a theoretical basis for exploring the light-regulated physiological and metabolic network of lilies,and offer a scientific reference for the large-scale and efficient cultivation of lilies.
