Acupuncture treatment for oculomotor nerve palsy based on"occipitocervical pivot-meridian sinew"theory
摘要
Abstract
Based on the"occipitocervical pivot-meridian sinew"theory,the core pathogenesis of oculomotor nerve palsy is proposed as follows:meridian sinew dysfunction as the manifestation,and occipitocervical pivot impairment as the root cause.Specifically,flaccidity and hypofunction of the foot Taiyang and Shaoyang meridian sinews around the eye manifest as external symptoms,whereas obstruction of the occipitocervical pivot,failure of clear yang to ascend,and insufficient nourishment of the brain marrow constitute the fundamental underlying causes.The corresponding therapeutic principle is thus proposed:activating the pivot and unblocking yang to target the primary root cause,and nourishing the meridian sinews to address the manifestation.For the treatment of the root cause,deep needling is performed at the suboccipital triangle to release muscular tightness,improve vertebrobasilar artery perfusion,and modulate craniocervical nerve function,thereby reactivating the occipitocervical pivot and unimpeding the circulation of qi and blood.For the treatment of the manifestation,deep needling is performed at multiple periocular acupoints,combined with a quick withdrawal technique to ensure clinical safety.One clinical case is presented for reference.关键词
