Abstract

Underground powerhouses in pumped-storage power stations feature complex structures and confined spaces,posing severe challenges for personnel evacuation during fire incidents.To enhance emergency safety levels,this study investigates personnel evacuation under high-risk fire scenarios at a large pumped-storage power station in Anhui Province,China.It employs a comprehensive approach combining numerical simulation and field testing.Using Pathfinder software,an evacuation model is established for the worst-case scenario of personnel-dense maintenance operations.Simulation results indicate that full evacuation of the main plant and main transformer cavern requires approximately 251 seconds and 165 seconds,respectively.Subsequently,multi-scenario field tests are designed and conducted,covering both normal operation and maintenance conditions while differentiating personnel training levels.The measured data validate the reliability of the simulation results,and precisely identify the bottleneck areas for evacuation,such as the bridge crane tracks,the spiral casing layer and the sewage treatment room.By comparing the test results,the study quantifies the effectiveness of emergency training,finding that targeted training could reduce the overall safe evacuation time by approximately 10%and improve evacuation efficiency at critical positions by up to 35%.Based on these findings,the study proposes a series of strategies including path optimization for high-risk positions,intelligent evacuation guidance system upgrading and precision training exercises.
