Study on high-efficiency and energy-saving carbon capture solvent and process

Abstract
Objective To address the issues of high regeneration energy consumption and solvent degradation in amine carbon capture technology,an efficient and energy-saving absorption solvent and its corresponding process were studied to reduce operating costs.Method First,by analyzing the reaction mechanisms and energy consumption characteristics of different solvents,a multi-component composite solvent,CT8-23B,was developed.Second,a pH-regulation-assisted regeneration process was introduced,in which a weak-acid salt was used to establish a buffer system to accelerate desorption.Third,the energy-saving performance of interstage cooling,mechanical vapor recompression,and other processes was evaluated.Result Compared with 30 wt%MEA,the CT8-23B solvent exhibited a comparable CO2 absorption rate.In addition,the saturated absorption capacity was increased by 27%,the desorption rate was increased by 100%,and the regeneration energy consumption was reduced by about 30%.Furthermore,the pH-regulation-assisted regeneration process can further enhance the regeneration performance and reduce energy consumption.Conclusion The combination of the CT8-23B solvent with energy-saving processes such as the pH-regulation-assisted regeneration process can significantly reduce the energy consumption of the carbon capture process,and has good industrial application and retrofit potential,providing a low-cost carbon capture technology solution.关键词
