Abstract
To evaluate and mitigate the adverse effects of pavement aging on driving safety and comfort,a test study on the ag-ing degree of road asphalt was carried out based on infrared spectroscopy.Four typical asphalts, namely Tipco 70#,Jinling 70#,SBS1,and SBS2,were selected.Samples of these asphalts at different aging stages(0,2,4,6,8,and 10 years)were collected and subjected to infrared spectroscopy testing and analysis. The results indicate that at a service life of 0 year, the absorption peaks of Tipco 70#and Jinling 70#in the characteristic wavenumber regions are significantly lower than those of SBS1 and SBS2.Qualitative analysis shows that the absorbance of all four asphalt samples exhibits an increasing trend with the extension of service life. For instance,at the wavenumber of 1500 cm-1,the absorbance of the four asphalts at 2 years were 0.07,0.12,0.11,and 0.20,respectively,which increase to 0.21,0.24,0.27,and 0.30 at 10 years. This indicates that a longer service life corresponds to more severe aging and higher absorbance of the characteristic absorption peaks.Quantitative analysis further confirms that the indices of functional groups(such as carbonyl)and structural indices(such as aliphatic alkyl)in the asphalts all show an increasing trend with the extension of service life. These findings can pro-vide a basis for distinguish the aging degrees of different types of asphalts and evaluating the aging state of asphalt pavement.关键词
