Abstract
Objective To investigate the potential association between the neutrophil percentage-to-al-bumin ratio(NPAR)and stroke risk in the US population,thereby providing evidence for stroke prevention and control.Methods US adults aged 20 years and older from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)2009-2020 were selected as study subjects,and NPAR was measured.Weighted multiva-riable logistic regression was used to examine the correlation between NPAR and stroke risk,and multivari-able linear regression models and restricted cubic spline(RCS)curves were employed to evaluate the associa-tion.Results A total of 28 815 participants were included,with a mean age of(49.67±17.61)years.Among them,1 157 had a stroke,yielding a stroke prevalence of 4.02%(1 157/28 815).Multivariate logistic regres-sion analysis showed that continuous NPAR was positively associated with stroke[odds ratio(OR)=1.05,95%confidence interval(CI)1.01-1.09,P<0.01].Compared with Q1,the risk of stroke in individuals in the Q2,Q3,and Q4 increased by 54%(OR=1.54,95%CI 1.13-2.10,P<0.05),41%(OR=1.41,95%CI 1.02-1.93,P<0.05),and 75%(OR=1.75,95%CI 1.23-2.48,P<0.05),respectively.The RCS curve re-vealed a nonlinear relationship between NPAR and stroke risk in US adults(P for nonlinearity<0.05).Threshold effect analysis showed a significant inflection point at an NPAR of 12.8(P<0.05).Subgroup anal-ysis showed that there was an interaction among different racial strata.Conclusion There is a nonlinear posi-tive association between NPAR and stroke risk in US adults,and a high NPAR is a risk factor for stroke in this population.关键词
