Psychosocial Mediating Factors Between School Bullying and Adolescent Non-Suicidal Self-Injury

Abstract
Given the close association between school bullying and non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI)among adolescents,this paper reviews the psychosocial mediating factors between the two by synthesizing relevant literature,aiming to provide references for developing intervention measures.The findings reveal that school bullying indirectly elevates the risk of NSSI primarily through three core pathways:impairing cognitive functions(decreasing self-esteem and triggering rumination),inducing emotional dysregulation(depression,anxiety),and disrupting interpersonal relationships(weakening social support and reducing peer acceptance).Among these,depression,self-esteem,and rumination serve as core mediating variables.These factors often operate in a chain sequence(bullying → alexithymia → low self-esteem/high rumination → NSSI;bullying → low peer acceptance → depression → NSSI).However,the existing evidence predominantly stems from cross-sectional studies,imposing limitations on causal inference.Future research should employ more rigorous longitudinal designs to validate the temporal sequence.关键词
