摘要
Abstract
Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)practitioners and organizations in Ontario,Canada have waged a longstanding struggle to obtain the professional title of"Doctor"(or"Dr.").This controversy involves complex interactions among symbolic capital, professional legitimacy, and discursive power in medicine.Drawing on anthropological methods, including ethnographic fieldwork and discourse analysis of policy texts, this study focuses on multiple stakeholders including TCM practitioners and patients. The findings reveal a governance logic of"legitimate inclusion yet symbolic exclusion".On the one hand, the state incorporates TCM into the formal healthcare system through legislation, thereby granting institutional recognition. On the other hand,it strictly regulates access to symbolic capital in order to sustain a biomedical-centered hierarchy of knowledge and authority. As a result,TCM has obtained nominal legitimacy but has been integrated into a restricted institutional framework, becoming a"legitimate outsider".关键词
