Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of"plan-do-check-act"(PDCA)cycle in reducing the incidence of surgical site infection(SSI)in clean incision surgery.Methods 1 437 patients who underwent clean incision surgery and adopted conventional infection prevention and control measures from December 2022 to November 2023 were selected as the control group,and 1 493 patients who underwent PDCA management from December 2023 to November 2024 were selected as the observation group.PDCA management was implemented through multi-link improvement,such as optimizing skin preparation method,standardizing skin disinfection and surgical hand disinfection in the surgical area,strengthening intraoperative heat preservation measures,etc.,the incidences and infection-related indicators of SSI were compared between the two groups.Results The qualified rate of skin preparation increased from 40.64%to 90.42%(P<0.001).The correct rate of surgical hand disinfec-tion increased from 73.94%to 92.62%(P<0.001).The implementation rate of preoperative skin disinfection time≥3 minutes increased from 49.09%to 90.04%(P<0.001),and the implementation rate of intraoperative heat preservation measures increased from 25.45%to 87.05%(P<0.001).The detected pathogens were mainly Gram-positive bacteria(4/5).Conclusion PDCA cycle method can significantly reduce the incidence of clean incision SSI,which is worthy of clinical application.
