Socioeconomic status and delayed treatment in people living with HIV:a correlation study

Abstract
Objective To analyze the current status and influencing factors of delayed treatment in people living with human immunodeficiency virus(PLHIV),and to explore the delayed treatment of latent classes of socioeco-nomic status.Methods This study was a secondary analysis based on a cross-sectional survey.The original data were from a project conducted at a designated hospital in Hunan Province for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS)patient treatment from May to November 2023.Study subjects were selected by convenience sampling method,sociodemographic characteristics,socioeconomic status indicators,and clinical data of patients were collected.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify the influencing factors for delayed treat-ment.Seven socioeconomic status indicators were grouped with latent class analysis(LCA),and differences in delayed treatment among PLHIV in different socioeconomic status classes were compared.Results A total of 346 PLHIV were included in the study,with a delayed treatment rate of 14.2%.Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that a household monthly income>10 000 Yuan was a protective factor against delayed treatment(OR=0.349,95%CI:0.135-0.905).LCA identified patient groups of three classes of socioeconomic status.The delayed treatment rates were 15.1%for the multidimensional disadvantaged group,16.5%for the moderate assurance group,and 10.8%for the core advantaged group;there was no statistically significant difference among the three groups(P=0.447).Conclusion The incidence of delayed treatment among PLHIV remains relatively low in this study.No significant correlation was found between socioeconomic status classes and delayed treatment in PLHIV.关键词
